Detroit signed Brad Penny to a 1 year $3 million contract with additional incentives. Penny missed most of last season with a back injury.
If he's healthy though he's 32 and is capable of being an All-Star level pitcher. His career record is 108-88 with an ERA just over 4. Low risk high reward. We'll see what he can bring, as he'll be taking the rotation spot that had been held down by Jeremy Bonderman.
