State got destroyed at Duke. That's not a surprise. Before the game however CJ Leslie was suspended indefinitely for conduct detrimental to the team. Already speculation swirls that he has played his last game for the Wolfpack.
As far as the actual game goes, State was down 29 at the half. Duke let up a bit in the second half and the final was 76-52.
Richard Howell had a career high 18 points. Lorenzo Brown had 15 points 9 rebounds and 6 assists. Deshawn Painter took advantage of increased playing time due to Tracy Smith being in foul trouble, CJ Williams fouling out in only 12 minutes of play, and the lack of Leslie. He had 10 points.
So the last touted recruit, JJ Hickson was on a team that imploded due to chemistry disasters overwhelming talent. Fast forward to Leslie and more of the same. Can Sidney Lowe just got recruit character guys, or is there just something about the way the team operates, bonds, etc. that doesn't foster chemistry.
I don't know. We won't know. Because someone else will be doing the recruiting come March/April.
wow, i actually thought this year was ncsu's year to turn it all around. I certainly didn't think it was going to be substantially worse than last year!
ReplyDeleteweird... why the hell is my login pharmacy law?? (this is daniel btw)
ReplyDeleteYeah I figured it was you. "Pharmacy Tool" would have eliminated that tiny shred of doubt, but the "pharmacy" part got me close enough ;)
ReplyDeletePS: "You are THE RLWLAW!!!!!!"???
ReplyDeleteI think what it comes down to is that they're a young team and young teams are going to be up and down at times. Compound that with lack of definitive leadership. Kentucky made a good run last year with Wall and Co. just because he's one of those "once in a decade" level of point guard talents. Harrow has talent but he's not that.
ReplyDeleteCompound that CJ Leslie's lack of floor discipline and the rumors I've read that he's getting more "me me me" and treating games like a 1 man talent drill for the scouts as his academics go in the toilet, the coaching uncertainty for the future builds, and it becomes obvious that on-court success from NC State isn't going to showcase him. So he's apparently become most interested in getting his NBA portfolio together ASAP. And failed at that I'd say.
