Tigers at Dodgers

After Denver Detroit took their No DH show to LA to battle the Dodgers. Brad Penny made his return to Chavez Ravine.

Game 1 was no Tiger offense. Literally. They got shut out 4-0 on 2 hits. Penny gave up 2 runs on 6 hits in 6 innings pitched but took another tough luck loss. He fell to 5-6 on the season.

On Tuesday, Detroit fell 6-1. Max Scherzer gave up 6 runs in 6 innings pitched to fall to 9-3 on the season.

Victor Martinez had 2 of Detroit's 6 hits and drove in the run.

In the series finale today the Tiger offense finally showed up. Detroit hit 4 home runs and won 7-5.

Magglio Ordonez hit his 2nd home run of the season and had 2 RBIs. Casper Wells hit his 3rd home run of the season. Don Kelly hit a pinch hit home run, his 2nd. Miguel Cabrera was 2-3 with his 15th homer of the season and 2 RBIs.

Victor Martinez was 2-3 with an RBI. Brennan Boesch was 2-5 with a double.

Rick Porcello got roughed up again, giving up 5 runs on 9 hits in 4.2 innings pitched. The bullpen regained control though. Al Alburquerque earned the win, with 2.1 hitless innings. He struck out 4 and improved his record to 4-1.

Jose Valverde pitched the 9th to earn his 17th save. He walked 1 and allowed 2 hits and can give Austin Jackson a save as well. Jackson came in as a defensive replacement and made an over the shoulder catch on the dead run near the warning track to end the game with the bases loaded. If he doesn't catch that the bases clear and the Dodgers win the game. Huge catch by Jackson.
