The Tigers return to their winning ways hosting Seattle

Detroit beat Seattle 4-1 in the series opener. Justin Verlander was dominant. He allowed 1 run, that on a wild pitch during a strikeout in the first, on 5 hits in 8 innings pitched. He walked one and struck out then. He upped his record to 7-3.

Jose Valverde closed out the 9th to earn his 16th save.

The red hot Brennan Boesch was 2-4 with a 2-run homer, his 9th, and a double.

Alex Avila was 2-2 with 2 triples and an RBI.

Don Kelly was 2-4 with an RBI.
