Mission Accomplished for Virginia

And by "accomplished" I mean "they completed their choking collapse in overtime". Miami completed their rise from the dead like Lazarus, winning 69-62 in overtime.

Dumbfounding.

At one point in the OT Miami was on a 22-4 run over the previous 5 minutes of the game.

The stats that led to Virginia letting it slip away just boggle my mind. 1-6 free throws in the last 29 seconds. 4 turnovers. Not just turnovers but turnovers that gave Miami the ball directly under their own basket with no need to burn time bringing the ball up the court. Inbounds, dunk. Inbounds, layup and foul. And one Miami steal under their own basket for another quick layup. Talk about the 3 quickest and easiest baskets you could make in that situation.

People wonder about the end of game fouling strategy. Jo was in my room watching the end of an NC State game last week, where State was trying the foul strategy. It didn't work. But like I told Jo, once in a hundred tries or something teams don't make their free throws, other stuff happens, and a miracle ensues. That happened big time today.
