Oakland handcuffed the Tiger offense last night, holding them to 1 run on 5 hits. Delmon Young hit his 5th Tiger home run. Max Scherzer allowed 5 runs on 7 hits in 5 innings of work to fall to 14-9 on the season. That's the only concerning thing to come of of the game. Detroit needs Scherzer to bring his A-Game if they're going to make a run in the playoffs.
Miguel Cabrera had a double, but Detroit couldn't string together hits last night. They fell 6-1. Despite that, their Magic Number to clinch the A.L. Central dropped to 1, as both Chicago and Cleveland lost last night. So one more Tiger win or one more loss by co-second place teams Chicago and Cleveland clinches Detroit's first ever A.L. Central title, and first division crown since they won the A.L. East in 1987, then there were still 2 divisions in each league.
