Tigers lost a slugfest in the series finale against KC

Jacob Turner's second big league start didn't go as well as his first right before the trading deadline.  He gave up 7 runs, 6 earned, in 4.1 innings pitched.

Detroit put up enough offense to spare him a loss, but the bullpen couldn't hold an 8-6 lead.  Phil Coke got tagged for the loss, allowing 3 runs without retiring a batter, to fall to 2-9 on the season.

Magglio Ordonez had a throwback game.  He was 3-4 with his 5th homer of the season, 2 doubles, and 3 RBIs.  For good measure he even stole third base in the third inning when KC fell asleep.  It was only his 2nd steal of the year but he was opportunistic.

Austin Jackson was 2-5 with his 8th home run of the season and a double.  He drove in 2 runs.   Delmon Young had an RBI double.  Miguel Cabrera drove in a run, and Alex Avila was 2-4 with a double.

KC went on to win though 11-8.

In a personal milestone, Brandon Inge played his 979th game at third base for Detroit, tying Tom Brookens for 3rd place in Tiger history at the position.
