Justin Verlander allowed only a 1-out walk in the 8th inning, after a 13 pitch at-bat. He struck out 4, including the final batter. He faced only 27 batters, getting a double play to erase the walk and end the 8th. Even with the 13 pitch at-bat that spoiled the perfect game, he completed the 9 inning no-hitter in only 107 pitches.
It is Verlander's second career no-hitter. Detroit rolled 9-0. Verlander evened his season record at 3-3
Alex Avila was 2-4 with his 6th homer of the season and 2 RBIs. Jhonny Peralta and Victor Martinez were both 2-5 with 2 RBIs. Peralta hit his 2nd homer of the season. Scott Sizemore and Magglio Ordonez also drove in runs, and Austin Jackson was 3-5.
