Tigers run their winning streak to 3

Detroit beat the Yankees 6-3 today. Rick Porcello allowed 2 runs on 8 hits in 7 innings pitched. He threw a career high 120 pitches and improved his record to 2-2 on the season.

Brennan Boesch was 2-3 with his second homer of the season and 3 RBIs. Brandon Inge also drove in a run.

Detroit had only 4 hits but took advantage of 3 Yankees errors, 2 by Derek Jeter's replacement at shortstop today, and 2 hit batters. They've clawed back to 15-17 on the season.

The first two months' schedule is rough. Detroit's also expected to be a second half team as their young hitters and new lineup finds a rhythm and they have a number of young pitchers who are usually stronger in the second half. On paper the second half schedule also looks easier, so the more they hang in now the better.
