You'd figure on a 7 game skid, with Austin Jackson, Will Rhymes, and Magglio Ordonez all slumping, that some kind of shuffle would come to spark things.
Detroit sent Rhymes down to Triple-A last night and recalled Scott Sizemore.
Rhymes was hitting .221 with 1 extra base hit all season. That's not entirely fair to him. Austin Jackson has been struggling ahead of him and not getting on base. Magglio Ordonez has been struggling behind him, with no pop in his bat, so Rhymes has been pitched very tough without Jackson on to make pitchers pitch out of the stretch, and Magglio not protecting him.
But Sizemore is leading the International League in hitting at .411. He's hot and he's got the tools to be an offensive impact. Detroit needs a hot hitter. Other than Cabrera, only Alex Avila has been a hot hitter.
Victor Martinez will return from the DL tomorrow so that should help as well.
