Multiple source are now saying that the previous mentioned trade for Fister has been completed and will be announced later today. Charlie Furbush is the pitching prospect involved, not Jacob Turner. Turner is called up to make a spot start in the current 5th Starter of Doom spot for today's game against the Angels at 4:10, rather than Duane Below. Hey why not? I don't think they've gotten a productive start out of that spot in a couple months.
My personal guess would be that both Turner and Below will get sent back down to make way for the newcomers.
I also saw online that Doug Fister has the lowest run support of any starter in the major leagues this year. He's on a 9 game losing streak. Along the way he's lost by scores of 3-2, 4-1, 4-0, 1-0, 5-1, 4-0, and 4-1.
Reports say that the Jimenez trade with Colorado fell apart when the Rockies wanted Jacob Turner, Brennan Boesch, and something else. They'd originally wanted Turner and a pitcher from the starting rotation, either Rick Porcello or Max Scherzer. The latter was definitely not happening. The former was not reasonable either. Detroit's desire was not to deal anyone on the current Major League roster. That has apparently happened.
