Rookie lefthander Duane Below made his major league debut for Detroit tonight, taking his shot at the 5 spot in the rotation. He wasn't bad, allowing 3 runs, 1 earned, in 5 innings pitched. He got a no-decision. Detroit couldn't hold a lead for him. David Purcey, pitching against his former team, walked all 3 batters he faced in the 6th. He ended up taking the loss to fall to 1-2 on the season.
Victor Martinez had a 2-run single. Don Kelly tripled and drove in a run with a sac fly. Ramon Santiago and Magglio Ordonez also drove in runs.
