Tigers beat Kansas City tonight

Max Scherzer allowed 1 run in 6.2 innings of work. Phil Coke got him out of a runners on the corner jam with 2 outs in the 7th, demonstrating how key he is to the bullpen and maybe their pennant run. Joaquin Benoit pitched the 8th and Jose Valverde closed out the 9th for his 22nd save of the season. Scherzer improved to 10-4 on the season.

Ryan Raburn hit a 2 run homer, his 8th of the season. Don Kelly added his 3rd homer of the season. Detroit won 3-1.

It is a hopeful sign that 3 non-Justin Verlander starters have earned wins in their last turn in the rotation. The starters were sharp in May. Hopefully they can return to that.
