Tigers beat the White Sox 5-4 in clutch fashion last night

Wilson Betemit had a 2 out RBI single in the 8th inning last night to break a 4-4 tie. He was 2-4 on the night.  Miguel Cabrera was 2-4 with 2 RBIs.   Jhonny Peralta and Victor Martinez also drove in runs.  Magglio Ordonez was 2-5 as was Austin Jackson.

Justin Verlander battled through 8 innings to improve to 14-5 on the season.  He surrendered 4 runs, on 2-run homers by Adam Dunn and Paul Konerko.

Jose Valverde locked down the 9th for his 27th save.

Big win for Detroit since Chicago's GM said on Monday that the next week's worth of games will indicate whether Chicago sheds some high priced veterans and brings in younger prospects.  Possibly conceding the division race?  That would be nice if it happens.  Detroit needs to play their part though.

Today the Sox traded a couple guys, including Edwin Jackson, to the Blue Jays.  The  Jays then turned around and traded Jackson to the Cardinals in an 8 player deal.  The trade deadline has started to heat up.
