Detroit finally comes through in the clutch

Miguel Cabrera hit a walk-off game winning single with 1 out in the bottom of the 9th to defeat Texas 5-4 today. That made a winner of Jose Valverde, who had pitched the 9th.

Brad Penny pitched well, allowing 3 runs in 6.2 innings pitched but was denied the win when Joaquin Benoit gave up a 2-out game tying single in the 8th inning.

Miguel Cabrera went 2-5 with a double and the game winning RBI. Ryan Raburn was 2-4 with a double, an RBI, and 2 runs scored. He also drew a 9th inning walk to bring Cabbrera to the plate.

Brennan Boesch was 1-4 with an RBI. Ramon Santiago was 1-5 with an RBI and Victor Martinez drove in a run. Austin Jackson was 1-3 with a triple and a run scored. He also delivered a sacrifice bunt as part of the 9th inning rally. Detroit improves to 4-7 on the season.
