today was another shaky starting pitching performance

Rick Porcello is still struggling to throw strikes with his secondary pitches. He have up 5 runs on 9 hits in 5 innings pitched to fall to 0-2 on the season.

Detroit went down 9-5 to KC to lose their first home series of the season. The hot Texas Rangers come to town next. Detroit's schedule the first 2 months isn't easy. They have to try to stay near .500 until they can stablize their bullpen and maybe get the offensive identity clicking. This team needs a bit of time to gel but it has a rough early stretch in which to do it.

Jhonny Peralta was 3-4 with a double and his first home run of the season. Miguel Cabrera hit a 2-run homer, his 4th of the season. Alex Avila hit his 3rd. Ryan Raburn also drove in a run. But Detroit isn't stringing together baserunners or base hits for the last couple games.

Whether the pitchers can control a potent Rangers team that's been tearing the cover off the ball in the early going remains to be seen.
