It was Detroit's first meeting with one of their expected AL Central rivals this season. Justin Verlander allowed 3 runs on 4 hits in 7 innings pitched. He struck out 8, including his 1000th career strikeout, and walked none. Three of those four hits were home runs, including 2 by Carlos Quentin, but their sluggers were confined to solo shots tonight. Verlander evened his record at 2-2 on the season.
Ryan Raburn was 2-5 with his 3rd homer of the season and 4 RBIs. He's been playing second base the last few games with Will Rhymes struggling and Brennan Boesch hitting well, so both bats can be in the lineup.
Casper Wells was 2-4 with a double and 2 RBIs. Jhonny Peralta was 2-4 with a triple and an RBI. Alex Avila was 2-3 with 2 doubles and an RBI, and Brennan Boesch was 1-2 with an RBI.
Detroit moved back to .500 on the season at 10-10
