They were held to 5 hits in a 3-1 loss. Ryan Raburn hit his first homer of the season with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th to avert the shutout. But offense was hard to come by otherwise. Magglio Ordonez doubled for his first extra base hit of the season, but Will Rhymes was thrown out at the plate to end the inning.
That was about the only other burst that Detroit mustered besides the homer. That spoiled a very solid first start of the season for Phil Coke. He gave up 2 runs on 3 hits in 6.2 innings of work, but fell to 0-2 on the season, having taken the Opening Day loss in relief of Justin Verlander.
